Samuel Velasco [NEW YORK]

INTERACTIVE DESIGNER - INFORMATION DESIGN SPECIALIST

Samuel Velasco is Senior Interactive Designer, working on web and mobile interfaces. He is also one of the world best specialist in information design (infographic). He has been part of the RevSquare team since the creation of the company in 2003.

As a UI/UX Interactive designer, Samuel has been working on web interfaces for Scholastic, L'Express Style, and for several publications by the Transcontinental group. He has also created several interactive interfaces aimed to the tablet and mobile environments.

As an informational graphic specialist, he has been working for publications such as The New York Times, Scientific American, and National Geographic, Corporations like Qualcomm, Siemens, and Exxon Mobil, and institutions such as the National Academy of Sciences, The Clinton Presidential Library, and the Museum of Natural History in New York City. He is a co-partner of 5W Infographics and its Creative Director, since 2006.

Before creating 5W Infographics and working for RevSquare, Samuel was Art Director at Fortune Magazine. He moved in the US in 1996 from Madrid (Spain). In 1989 Samuel was one of the original members of the daily newspaper El Mundo (Madrid), whose art department quickly became the center of the 1990's "boom" of infographics in Europe. From 1990 to 1996 El Mundo was recognized with hundreds of awards by the Society for News Design. Samuel alone won more than thirty.
